Local SEO is the highest-return marketing most small businesses will ever do, because the people it reaches are already searching for what you sell, in the place you sell it. There is no cold audience. There is just the question of whether they find you or your competitor.
The map pack is the main event
Search "plumber near me" and the first real thing you see is three businesses on a map. That is the local pack, and it takes the majority of clicks. Getting into it depends mostly on three things: a complete, active Google Business Profile, review quantity and recency, and whether Google trusts that you are actually located where you say you are.
Your website's job in local SEO
The website confirms what your profile claims. The essentials: your city and service in page titles ("Roof Repair in Newark, DE"), a page per major service rather than one page listing everything, your name, address, and phone consistent everywhere they appear, and fast mobile load times. Schema markup, which is code that tells Google explicitly what your business is, where it is, and what it charges, gives you an edge most local competitors skip. We include it in every build.
Reviews are a ranking factor and a conversion factor
Reviews do double duty: they help you rank, and they close the deal once someone sees you. A steady drip of recent reviews beats a big pile of old ones. The follow-up system in our reviews guide takes about ten minutes a week.
Citations, briefly
Citations are mentions of your business details on other sites: Yelp, Bing Places, industry directories, the chamber of commerce. They matter less than they used to and consistency matters more than volume. Get the big ones right and move on.
What a realistic timeline looks like
Local SEO compounds. Expect visible movement in two to three months and meaningful results in six. That sounds slow until you notice the alternative: paying for every single click through ads, forever. Rankings, once earned, keep paying rent. If you would rather have this handled while you run the business, that is literally what we do.
