Here is an uncomfortable fact: for many local businesses, more potential customers see the Google Business Profile than ever click through to the website. The hours you spent on the site, and then the profile gets thirty seconds of setup and years of neglect.

Claim it, then actually complete it

Claiming is straightforward: search your business name, click "Own this business?", verify. Completion is where the wins are, because Google visibly rewards complete profiles. Every field matters: precise categories (primary category is a genuine ranking factor), service list with descriptions, service area, hours including holidays, and attributes like "veteran-owned" or "online estimates."

Photos are not optional

Profiles with real photos get dramatically more calls and direction requests than those with a logo and a stock image. Real photos of real work, your storefront or truck, your team's faces. Add a few every month; recency counts. Skip the stock photography, which customers can smell instantly.

Use posts and Q&A, because nobody else does

The Posts feature puts small updates directly on your listing: offers, recent jobs, seasonal reminders. Almost no small business uses it, which is exactly why it stands out. The Q&A section is public and anyone can answer questions about your business, so it pays to seed it yourself with the questions you get weekly, answered well.

Respond to every review

Both kinds. A gracious reply to a bad review, read by hundreds of future customers, often does more good than the bad review does harm. Speed matters more than eloquence. If getting reviews is the bottleneck, start here.

An optimized profile feeds and is fed by your website; the two rise together, which is why profile optimization is baked into our SEO service rather than sold as an afterthought.
