The most frustrating website problem is the invisible one. Your analytics show visitors. Your phone shows nothing. Every one of those silent visitors searched for something you sell, landed on your site, and decided against you in under a minute.
Killer 1: nobody can tell what you do in five seconds
Load your homepage, look at it for five seconds, and close it. Could a stranger say what you do, where you do it, and what to do next? If your headline says "Welcome to our website" or "Quality you can trust," it says nothing. The fix is a headline that names the service and the outcome: "Plumbing repairs in Wilmington, same day."
Killer 2: the phone number is hiding
On mobile, your number should be a tap-to-call button visible without scrolling, on every page. Buried in a footer, it might as well not exist. The same goes for a WhatsApp button if your customers prefer messaging.
Killer 3: the site takes four seconds to load
Half your visitors leave before a slow site finishes loading, and they blame you, not their connection. Speed is a design decision. See how speed converts for the numbers and a free 30-second test.
Killer 4: it looks abandoned
A 2018 design, a copyright line from three years ago, a blog whose last post is ancient. Visitors read that as "this business might not exist anymore." Nobody calls a business that looks closed.
Killer 5: no reason to trust you
No reviews, no photos of real work, no faces, no address. Trust signals are not decoration; they are the difference between "looks fine" and "I called." Reviews are the heavyweight here, and there is a system for getting them.
Every one of these is fixable, and none of them requires more traffic. Fixing conversion first means every visitor you already get is worth more, and every marketing dollar afterward works harder. That is the order we build in on every project.
